Once upon a time, there was a little kid in Idaho who borrowed her mom’s film
camera to take pictures of plants and nature. When she grew up, she moved to the
forests of Washington to study photography and dreamt of being a National
Geographic photojournalist. She sought adventure everywhere she could: by
working in event coordination, doing project management for tech companies,
and even moving to Thailand. But, after searching far and wide, she found her
biggest adventure at home in Portland: pursuing her photography dreams full-time
in the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
I know you’ll be shocked (/s) that the kid in this story is me. I started Venture
Ever After (formerly Nadia Joyce Photography) as a side gig in 2010, and in 2020 I
quit my tech job to devote myself to entrepreneurship full-time. If you can’t
tell by now, this business isn’t just about photography. My love for this work
has only grown deeper over the years, into protecting the landscapes that saved me
and nurturing the people who love them as much as I do.

Photography has been a driving force in my life for as long as I can remember. From a young age I would document my family with my dad's film camera, and eventually I got my BFA in photography. I've always enjoyed capturing the moments - big and small - that make up an experience. At my core, I'm an adventurer with a camera-shaped companion to help me save memories worth reliving and sharing. That's why I can't get enough of weddings: They're a celebration of life. Photographing weddings is my way of preserving the things that matter most during our time on Earth.
Aside from photography, I love travel, good food, quality time with friends, and ridiculously long hiking trips. I also always want to talk about my cats, so feel free to ask about them.

We wanted something simple and easy, but even that came with some stressors. Nadia and Cassidy provided us with a detailed itinerary for the day and constant communication. On my elopement day we were so at ease. The photos were beautiful and everything we ever wanted. I appreciate being able to share those memories with the friends and family who could not come. Although Nadia and Cassidy were hired for photos and to officiate the ceremony, they helped with so much more. From flower shop recommendations, hotel stay suggestions, restaurants, even ceremony ideas.

When we started wedding planning we had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. Not only were we doing an elopement but we were traveling over 1,000 miles to do so.

We had our first phone meeting with Nadia in the early stages of planning and she made us both feel so comfortable about our vision and expectations. She did so much scouting at our dream location which was helpful because we weren’t going to be able to see it before the wedding.
Nadia is so warm and makes you feel like you have been life long best friends. She is also extremely professional and exceptional at her craft. She braved the freezing cold on top of a mountain with us. She brought gloves with warmers for me and even extra blankets. She is so thoughtful. She really saved the day and came up with great ideas for new plans when the weather didn't cooperate. I would and have recommended her to all of my friends.
