I still remember when Lindsey + Neil reached out to me about photographing their small wedding on the Oregon Coast. Lindsey made it very clear that they knew they might be tempting fate by planning a beach wedding at Hug Point in October. You see, weather on the Oregon Coast can be finicky, especially in the fall, and Lindsey and Neil were pretty much planning on it being rainy, cold, and windy. But damn it, this location was special to them and honestly, how awesome would it be to be able to say that you cut your wedding cake and danced your first dance in a storm on the coast?
Fast forward to the days leading up to their wedding. The forecast called for storms. We’re talking wind and rain, all day. So, when I met up with Lindsey at the Airbnb where they were getting ready and the sun started coming out, we all crossed our fingers and wondered if we might just get lucky.
The weather held through their first look at the Airbnb and continued to look promising until everyone was on location and ready to go. Through the ceremony, group photos, and reception, the sun stayed with us, with only a hint of stormy clouds way out over the water, and we ultimately never felt a single drop of rain. It’s funny how things work out sometimes, and this day was just meant to be perfect for these two.
I have to talk for a second about the amazing prep that Lindsey and Neil did for this day. They had a very small guest list, and they went all out for those folks. Socially distanced, dual beach chairs with fully stocked backpacks full of goodies and s’mores kits (because yes, there was a bonfire and s’mores!) served as guest “favors”. They did, indeed, bring their wedding cake out, and they had the most amazing florist who set the whole scene for an elegant and beautiful atmosphere. I can’t tell you just how cool this experience was – and I was just a vendor! These two truly thought of everything to make sure every single person there was comfortable and having a great time, and as a result, they got to focus on being present and having exactly the wedding experience they wanted.
Check out all the amazing (and all local!) folks who helped make this day what it was, and then be sure to scroll and see just how gorgeous this beach celebration was.
